The Possession of Eternal Life is Received by Faith Alone

Not only does the Bible teach that the experience of eternal life is "not yet" and contingent upon perseverance in good works to the end of life, but it also teaches that believers come into possession of eternal life "already" by grace alone through faith alone.

Jhn 3:15 "so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.

Jhn 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Jhn 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

Jhn 5:21 "For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes.

Jhn 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

Jhn 5:40 and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

Jhn 6:33 "For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world."

Jhn 6:40 "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."

Jhn 6:47 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.

Jhn 6:51 "I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh."

Jhn 10:10 "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have {it} abundantly.

Jhn 10:28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.

Jhn 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,

Jhn 17:2 even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.

Jhn 17:3 "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Jhn 20:31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.

Act 11:18 When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, "Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance {that leads} to life."

Act 13:48 When the Gentiles heard this, they {began} rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.

Rom 5:18 So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.

Rom 5:21 so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2Cr 3:6 who also made us adequate {as} servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Gal 3:21 Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? May it never be! For if a law had been given which was able to impart life, then righteousness would indeed have been based on law.

1Ti 1:16 Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.

Tts 3:7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to {the} hope of eternal life.

1Jo 5:11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

1Jo 5:12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
